The Strategy

No more divide and conquer!  We must unite and win! 

 

We're creating a new narrative:  Workable solutions that uphold our nation's values and move us forward together.

By mobilizing our base (core groups and individuals) we will work to persuade the middle and marginalize the opposition.  How does that sound?  

Tomorrow 700+ advocates will deliver the message to our representatives that our country expects just and humane immigration policies.

Arrival at the Summit

Travel went smoothly and I arrived at Gallaudet University late last night.  My roommates (Lorena, Rebeca and Marlen) were all sleeping soundly.  

Our group of ten (Oregon delegates) met this morning to plan our strategy for meeting with our representatives tomorrow.  I'm on the teams to meet with Congressman Walden and Senator Merckley.  Our intention is to push for CIR (Comprehensive Immigration Reform) and in the meantime ask for support for current bills regarding reunification of families, the Dream Act and Agriculture.  More later...

Immigration Summit

The Reform Immigration for America Campaign Summit happens this week in Washington, DC. I'll be there representing the Rural Organizing Project (ROP). Joined by nine other Oregon delegates from CAUSA Oregon, PCUN, and MLP (Migrant Labor Project), we are working to advance legislation this year for just and humane immigration reform.

The Summit will include a day on Capitol Hill meeting with the members of our Oregon Congressional delegation. The Rural Organizing Project represents 10,215 households from every county in Oregon. We intend to speak for all people to support just and humane immigration reform in 2009!
